My Favorite Flea Market Finds

Apr 27, 2017 By Layla

Happy Friday, friends!

I had some fun wandering around a few local flea markets the other day and thought I’d share some of the photos here today. I saw so many neat things! This table and these dishes were definitely two of my absolute favorites:

How cute are those scalloped edges? And don’t even get me started on that particular shade of green. Look at how beautiful it looks with those nutty-brown chairs! SO good! 😀

This roll-top desk was a chart topper for me too:

…and these old crates sure had me at hello:

Here’s a montage of all the video clips I posted on Instagram that day if you missed it and would like to watch:

I didn’t buy anything, but boy was it fun to get out and look around! I was actually on the hunt for a desk- to replace the plastic folding table I’m currently set up on. 🙂 I’m so torn between old and new. Old desk with character? New desk that feels crisp and clean? It’ll sit in the middle of this room:

Which reminds me, I need to show you the new rug! It’s this one from RugsUSA:

I’ll remember to take some photos of it by Monday so I can show you how awesome it looks under my card table. 😉

Have a sweet weekend, y’all!

Layla

I have never seen any pictures on your blog that made me think “she should have gone with _____ instead” so I just know you will find the perfect desk.
good luck and enjoy the desk hunt.

That table is lovely!! Would you mind sharing your faves antique/thrift shops? I live near you (new to the area) and I’m always looking for new places to check out!

Have you considered a vintage library table. They are usually oak with two drawers. If you wanted to make it usable for Sonny at times, you could have a top put in place of thick glass or plexiglass. Since the room is so light in color, you would have to add a few touches of texture and some bits of darker accents. It would look cute with a great vintage chair. Maybe a bentwood.

I watched your insta story last night…and YES that table and those scallops=swooooon! Loved it all, I’m just NOT sure HOW you didn’t buy anything!!!🙄Great will power!!!! I can’t wait to see your new/ or maybe old desk😉 I love that straight long table look maybe with a little drawer or something, exspecially when it’s in the middle of a room!
So I really wanted to ask your opinion, so do you love rugs USA or have any other suggestions? I have a beautiful pottery barn area rug, but I want to change colors🤔
I’m a visual girl SO it’s so hard just looking online. BUT I can’t seem to find anything I like at the stores around me!
Have a great weekend Layla 👯💟☮️

Love the blue rug, blue is my favorite color. I trust your judgement on what you end up choosing for a desk. I always love your chose’s. I have a old writing desk & chair that was my (deceased) Mom’s. I love it even though it is old. She loved it also.

Personally I’d go for something with character to tie in with your other bits. Bit of cohesion.Doesn’t have to be anything with scrolls and whatnots, but a simple desk with some old whackedaboutness would look great.

Funny enough, I was cleaning out someone’s old caravan (trailer) and found some lovely old scalloped edged bowls. Guess where they live now? Hee hee.

I LOVE the rug! I have been wanting one similar for soooooo long! I looked at their site and swooooooon, so cheap! However they don’t ship to Australia….waaaaah! I will have to work out with a friend in US what the shipping would be and get her to maybe post it to me.

I say new and crisp and clean. I have the printers writing desk from PB-Large and love the look. I haven’t used it much so I can’t say how it holds up but it’s such a nice size!!!

What flea market did you find the king sized headboard made from 100 year old boards? I live in Montgomery and have been looking for something like that! Love it!!!
