Cottage Kitchen Cuties

May 8, 2020 By Layla

I got a few new cuties for the kitchen last week…

…and one OLD cutie, too:

I’ve been looking for something to use in that spot in our kitchen for quite a while and I was so happy to find it on Facebook Marketplace. I’m WILD about the chunky wood knobs and the wooden keyholes. The whole thing is solid wood, and it had been in the same family for three generations.

I got it for $100, which I thought was a great deal for such a handsome and sturdy piece. There’s a little damage on the top of the base, and a whole mess of cat scratches on one side of the hutch, but I’ve already started refinishing it, so I’ll have it looking like new in no time.

I’ll share more photos of it when we’ve got it all fixed up and decorated.

Happy weekend!

Layla

PS- A note about my fantastic new ($39) : I thought it was a great alternative to those super cute, but super expensive SMEG toasters ($169!). It’s also available in off-white and mint green, as well as the light blue color I got, if you’re on the hunt for something similar for a lower price! 🙂

Hutch is a great piece at that price and fits perfectly. Will you stain or paint it? Your toaster color is sweet too. Where did you find that treasure?

Layla….did you know that your new old hutch looks just like one that Aunt Bea has in her dining room on the Andy Griffith shows?….I think it is exactly the same hutch….it would match the vintage age of the one you just bought. At our house we’ve taken to watching re-runs of Mayberry and The Lone Ranger just to get away from the horrible Covid news for a few minutes. Hope your project with the hutch turns out just the way you want it to!
