Girls Bedroom Decorating

Aug 5, 2019 By Layla

Happy August!

We’re just coming off of another one-week visit with our new friend, Meme, so I thought I’d share some photos of the space we put together for her last month. I’ll link all the resources at the bottom of the post too in case you’re on the hunt for anything similar, too!

You may remember this room used to have a desk in the middle of it, but I never really found myself using it, so it’s fun to put it to work in a different (cozier!) way.

For now, we’ve just got two sets of dark gray drapes over the (wide) doorway that leads in from the dining room, but we’re looking forward to having a set of french doors installed soon.

(I’m not finished painting those Stikwood planks on the fronts of those doors, so forgive the variety of tones!)

Here’s a link to the window shades (use code TRANSFORM at checkout!). They’re cordless and we have enjoyed them so much!

I’ll share a separate post about the bedding tomorrow. Meme is a super quiet gal, but I’m pretty sure it was her favorite part of the whole room! 😉

You can click on any of the thumbnails below to shop the rest of this post:

It was so fun to work with the color pink!

That room is lovely, I can only imagine how much she appreciated spending time there! Your window treatments ( shades and drapes) have such a warm calming feel, I love the combination!
How has the stikwood adhesive held up on built ins by fireplace? I wondered with changing temperatures and humidity if the adhesive really holds? It looks great on these cabinets too!

Hi Layla (and Kevin and Sweet P!) The room is lovely. Where did you get those beautiful white panel curtains?

Hi Layla! I love the curtains! BUT, the ones in your photos, look like they have some lace/trim on the bottom. Did you add that ? It’s what first caught my eye, when I saw them, but the thumbnail of the curtains do not appear to have a trim on the bottom. Please advise. Thanks!

Oh, yes! I added that trim and documented it on Insta-stories one day a while back! 🙂

So beautiful! About the shades…what color did you use? And do you think they would be suitable for a small bathroom? Are they easy to raise and lower? Thank you!

It is so pretty! Where did you get those bookcases/cabinets? I am looking for something similar right now and those are beautiful!

Love the calm vibe of the room! Gorgeous, refreshing, & so well-appointed. As I recall, the built-ins are an Ikea hack. Is there a blog post about that project? (I did look but did not find one.) Thanks!

Is the rug you ordered 7′-6″ x 9′-6″? I have a daybed that I’ve been wanting to put a rug under but wasn’t sure what size would be appropriate. I love the layered faux sheep rug on top! Brings a softness to it! Gorgeous room, Layla.

Thank you! And, yep! It is the 7′-6″ x 9′-6″. Happy decorating! 🙂

Loving the texture and color the window shades bring to the room! A cordless option is wonderful. Is that the jute natural color? I love that they offer samples of the shade colors so I can determine what would look best in my home.

Hi Layla! This space is beautiful! The blinds you chose are exactly what I’ve been looking for for my bedroom! Can you tell us if the color is Jute Natural? The website color is a bit different that your pics so I just want to be sure. Thank you!

I love your sharing AND your caring; and your well placed aloe speaks to both. A lovely and special space for a lovely and special friend – well done!

I asked on another post but can’t find it now. What happened to Kit Kat’s litter and food? He now longer has access because the daybed is the way.

This space is lovely and peaceful. Do you recall where you got the white confit pot holding the hydrangeas on the side table? I have been looking for one just like it.

Could you please tell me what flooring you have in the room? It’s beautiful!! Along with everything else of course!
