Adoption is wonderful. What a lovely tribute. After dealing with years of secondary infertility, I now realized just what a miracle, a privilege and an honor it is to be called mommy.

There have been a lot of articles on Huffington Post lately regarding keys to Happiness. Being thankful and aware of things you are grateful for seem to be consistent keys to Happiness. Your post was very touching, wishing all 3 of you much Happiness!

My heart flies with you as you visit Sweet P. He is as fortunate as you are to have been chosen for each other. God knows all.

My husband and I are parents to the most beautiful 2 1/2 year old little girl who we adopted when she was 6 maths old!
Praise God for weaving together what was two sad events (our infertility and the loss of our daughters mother) into an overwhelmingly blessed family!!!
So excited to see what’s in store for you and your family!!

Let me just say I never post a comment, but when I read that quote I felt compelled to. As a foster person I have always wanted to adopt (or foster) and that is indeed the feeling I have thinking to the future of when I will be able to. Thank you for sharing!

I have to ask…is this the Jody Landers that used to live in Iowa, husband is a musician, and has a bunch of kids including some adopted? If so, I used to attend the same church as her…weird!

This is probably one of the most powerful statements regarding adoption I have ever read.

Your son is truly blessed to have you and Kevin as his parents, as are you to have him as your son. May you have a lifetime of happiness and love.

The quote is beautiful but I take exception to the reference to tragedy. I was adopted in 1962 when I was two weeks old. My birth mother gave me my life and chose to put me up for adoption so that I could have a better life than she could provide me. I don’t think that’s tragic, I think that’s brave and an amazing gift.

My mother, who passed in 2008, would remind me on my birthdays that there was another woman out there who was also celebrating me. And on my adoption day, she would say it was “our” special birthday.

I do acknowledge that some situations can be tragic. I don’t believe that they all are.

I agree, Alison…(*hug*)…I posted this because it describes our Sweet P’s situation and my feelings so perfectly. XO

I was adopted at 6 days old and my step-daughter went to court on Friday for the final hearing on their adoption of their son. I think that a birth mother giving up a child for adoption is the most beautiful example of selfless love – I know I could not have given up any of my children! Thank you for all the birth mothers who made the loving choice to give their baby life and gave a couple a family.
