5 Instagram Photos That Inspired Me This Week

Jun 27, 2018 By Layla

Hello! Each Wednesday I share some of the photos that stopped me in my scroll while I was perusing Instagram the previous week. Here are this week’s picks!

1. ErikaMPowell:

Erika is my absolute favorite interior designer and I was so excited to hear photos of her home had been published in the June/July issue of Garden and Gun magazine. Here’s a link to the article online: Inside A Florida Home With Outdoor Spirit

2. @BlueBarnAndCottage–

Felt like a breath of fresh air when that bright little corner popped up on my screen!

Loren’s caption read, “I recently decided to move our table to the left, swag the pendant, and stole the chest from my daughter’s room to help envision how a built-in bench might look. 🤔 Would love to hear your thoughts! I also changed out the light fixture with this basket pendant. (I’m a basket hoarder so why not add one hanging from the ceiling too? 🙃) I’m liking the summery, more causal feel and the texture the pendant adds, but my favorite additions to this corner are the gorgeous floral and ticking stripe pillows from Amanda @thelinenfox – The bright florals mixed with classic ticking stripes gives me all the summer feels. 🌺 ☀️ She’s offering a discount code for 10% off using COTTAGE10 till June 30th so hope you’ll run over and check out her gorgeous shop at www.thelinenfox.com.”

3. @OldSilverShed–

Sandra’s front door gave me heart-eyes too. How cool that she can open the window part of it separate from the door!

4. @TheCobblerShopOnConcord –

I feel like I could write a whole story around that photo. Gosh, how it transports me! Can you see it? A cottage surrounded by wildflowers and a rocking chair on the porch that creaks whenever the wind blows through? Swept-clean wood floors and, at some point in the story, a pie that’s just out of the oven? *sigh* 🙂

5. @BryartonFarm:

That pic makes me want to install beadboard on all the walls! I love how it was attached diagonally on the side of the staircase too. Such a great way to add cottage or farmhouse charm for cheap!

Hope you’re having a great week!

I’m not sure I could subscribe to a magazine called Gun & Garden, but the Powell residence is gorgeous. I always enjoy your Wednesday blog.

It’s actually called Garden & Gun, and their tag line is: “Celebrates the modern South and features the best in Southern living.” It’s great! 🙂

The name alone has me intrigued about what could be inside!

    Layla,

Thank you for featuring our kitchen! What an unexpected honor! Often during the 4 years it took to restore our 1893 farmhouse DIY style, I would be washing dishes in the bathtub, and wonder if we were ever going to finish. I felt so overwhelmed and discouraged by living in such chaos with 2 young kids in the middle of nowhere. This week You and Country Home Magazine both recognized our restoration! It feels like we are getting a gold medal for tackling such a project ourselves.

We still have 2 gutted rooms and half of the exterior left to restore, but I feel like we have a group of cheerleaders on our team now! Saving America’s heritage doesn’t seem like such a daunting task, when you have friends who believe in you and who appreciate your efforts. Our goal is to finish the restoration in the next 2 years, so that we can pass a home study and Adopt. Thank you for always encouraging those who need it most. Please pray that God would provide a way for us to accomplish this soon, so we can bring our child home.

    Much Love,
    Sara Jo Floyd

OOOOoooooo. I love that door too. However, I can totally see me forgetting the bottom half was closed and busting my face on the porch. It would happen. I’m have no bouts a doubt it.

It’s actually two doors – a regular front door and a screen door, so there’s not a top/bottom, but agree that I could easily walk thru the screen 😂
