It’s official. I like to find fun design-related ideas on Instagram and blog about them on Wednesdays. 🙂
1. CurbToRefurb‘s Sharpie Plank Wall:
I loved seeing this photo because I have often thought about drawing some planks onto some of our walls vs. installing real wood. It’s such a cost effective way to get almost the exact same look, ya know? Here’s a link to the post she published about it: Sharpie Plank Wall And Shelves and here is an excellent post she published about how she decorated the shelves they added to it: Kitchen Shelf Styling
2. CurbToRefurb‘s cheese box-turned-bathroom shelf:
Would you believe she made it for just two dollars? Incredible! Here’s a link to her blog post about it: How To Turn A Cheese Box Into A Beautiful Shelf
3. SarahMDorseyDesigns‘ DIY brass sconces:
She literally ordered all the parts separately and put them together for $70 each! I have seen similar sconces online for over $300!
(Stanway Sconce – $315)
(Boston Functional Single Light Sconce – $168)
4. DianaGray5‘s “farm” letter wall art:
On her (awesome) blog, Our Vintage Home Love, she said she printed the letters onto copy paper using different fonts. Then she enlarged them using a photocopier and traced them onto some thin plywood. Next, she used a jigsaw to cut them out and then painted and distressed different sections of them. What a neat way to create inexpensive, large-scale wall art!
5. FarmhouseForFour ‘s cedar plank ceiling, board and batten walls, and salvaged, sliding barn door:
Lauren said she had been holding on to the old cedar fence boards they used on the ceiling (which came from a falling-down fence at their previous home) for years. And to make matters even more magical, they actually had *just* the right amount to cover the entire ceiling in there. Whew! Like Lauren said in her Instagram post: “Sweet salvaged wood destiny!” 😀
One word to all 5 projects. WOWZA!!
