5 Design Ideas That I Just Love

Nov 3, 2015 By Layla

Hello! Each Wednesday I share a handful of photos that stopped me in my tracks while I was scrolling on Instagram the previous week. Here are this week’s picks:

1. @SarahLanae83‘s cool sliding, salvaged door:

This sweet gal’s house is the cah-UTEST and that door is just so de-LISH!

2. This fun AND functional wall in @TheCottageJournal‘s feed:

Storage, (slender) seating, sunshine- it’s got it ALL! And what great lighting! Picture lights over the plates, wall sconces on each side of the windows, and a 6-light chandelier over the table. SO awesome! Photos like that make me want to squeeze the screen! #SpacePlanner

3. @EllaClaireBlog‘s precious “She Shed“:

Y’all. Kristen turned that into THIS:

Isn’t that incredible?! Here’s a link to her post about it: She Shed Reveal

4. @SueWaldron‘s drab-to-fab lamp makeover:

She said in her caption that it was a “roadside rescue”. What a great reminder that one woman’s trash can indeed be another woman’s treasure!

4. @WhiteFlowerFarmhouse‘s clever fridge cover-up:

Lori said they bought a very inexpensive (Whirlpool) fridge that had a flat door and hardware that could easily be removed. After taking off the handles, it was framed with trim that was screwed on. A flat thin veneer wood panel was glued inside the trimmed area, and they caulked and painted the door fronts to match the rest of the cabinetry in the room. The handles are boat hardware and Lori bought them from West Marine Store for $10 each. Genius!

Hi Layla – since yesterday I’ve been battling to view your instagram account – says something about the link being broken or that the account may have been removed?! I don’t seem to be battling to see anyone else’s and clicked onto it using your link above. Has anyone else battled like me? Missing your account 🙁

I loved your five ideas……I especially liked the door with multiple panes. I have these doors in my old house and I love them. My husband and I found the old doors at a salvage store and he refinished and hung them. Thanks for ideas/suggestion/observations!

I love the fridge cover up. Fridges are so ugly! Especially mine. It’s quite vulgar. I love having things like fridges and T.V.’s out of site! It’s kind of like anyone over 3 years old wearing leggings in public ~ not a good idea!! Just saying.
