Adoption Song

My Mr. wrote and recorded a song to our future ‘Sweet P’ (P is for Palmer!), and it’s called Love Collides. It’s an acoustic guitar-meets-piano style ballad. It’s very tender, and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed the process of creating it!

Click the play button below to have a listen:

There’s a chance Sweet P is out there waiting for us right now (our age range is newborn-3 years), so we want to take this opportunity to thank you for joining us on this journey, and for being such a special a part of our little one’s story!

Just donated all the way from the UK. I have been reading your blog for a year now, and love reading all about your house and your lives. The song is absolutely beautiful. I hope and pray that everything comes together with your adoptions plans xxxx

  2. Culpepper says

Love helping you on your journey. Praying for all 3 of you and looking forward to meeting Sweet P in the coming months. God Bless.

  3. Hilary Kasparian says

As the mother of an adopted son from Korea ( who is now 16 years old :0)…. This beautiful song brought back the memories of the hope and love I felt on my journey. Adoption has been the most profound experience in my life …a child that is born in your heart…my heart has never been fuller and the joy my son has brought to my life unmatched!

Love and prayers to you both!

    • Layla says

No laughing!! Just TONS of gratefulness, Jaimie! We appreciate your support SO much and can’t wait to share more updates with you! :-D

  4. Betsy Derr says

This song will be an encouragement to millions! I pray you’ll raise all the money you need! I could only donate a little, but God can make a lot of littles into a LOT! He’s good like that! Always providing just what you need.
Each word of this song says LOVE!

  5. says

Donating now. Thankfully my husband and I decided that my blog “earnings” are “fun” money, which for me translates to being able to give to causes that I care about. With 3 kids, I know how much your heart can feel like it’s bursting before you have your child. I know you will get your Sweet P, the right child for you.

That’s one of the prettiest songs I’ve EVER heard. I assumed Kevin was talented (!!!), but that’s as beautiful as anything I’ve ever heard. What a blessed journey you are on, and I can’t wait to see the family that God hand-crafts for you.

  6. says

Tears, here. So beautiful. We have been home ONE month tomorrow with our two little loves from Ethiopia…4 years old & 9 months old.
Could we use this song for our Gotcha Day video?? We will, of course, give proper credit.

  7. Danielle says

Just donated. :) As the mom of three precious girlies your story touches me. I follow two blogs regularly with yours being one of them. You guys are awesome people and so darn talented! I wish you nothing but the best on your adoption journey. Lots of <3 from snowy Saskatchewan. :D (and the song is beautiful)

  8. says

I can feel the love you already have for your future child in that song, along with hope and a beautiful future for all of you! While I don’t know either of you personally, I’ve been following you for a couple of years and cannot think of a couple more deserving of donations towards a cause like this!

  9. says

I am praying that you are connected with your love! Kevin the song is beautiful! You hear all the tenderness and love that comes from truth. God bless you guys. You are so sweet and deserve this happiness. Much luck. I will enjoy listening and will think of you both and your “sweet P” when I do.

  10. says

Holy cow, I am sobbing at my desk. How absolutely beautiful, you guys. As a new mom (my baby girl was born three months too soon this past March) my heart aches and sings for you guys on your journey to become parents. Also, as an adoptee myself… what a beautiful, beautiful, love song. I feel like MY Dad wrote it. XOXO, prayers for you.

  11. U Rick says

Pretty good for a rock n’ roll guy. ;-) Emotions aren’t my thing, but it actually made me miss my kids being little! Hope all is well, miss u both.

  12. says

WOW! What a gorgeous song written from the heart with so much love. I’m looking forward to the day when you have a precious baby in your arms to love and nurture.
    hugs
    Kristin

  13. RHONDA says

What a beautiful song. I’m looking forward to the first post when that precious baby is in your arms and you are singing this song to him/her. May you draw closer to Him as you continue your adoption journey. He has orchestrated every step and will continue to lead you every step of the way. Blessings!

  14. says

Oh…you guys!!! The song brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. It’s a priviliege to follow your journey. Thanks so much for sharing it!

  15. Sarah C. says

Lovely. What a nice way to share your dreams & your talents. As for donations, I know that asking for them can be uncomfortable for a lot of folks — but one way to think of the process is as fundraising not for the two of you, and not even for adoption. You are raising money for your child, to provide your child with the best home that he or she could possibly have, to ensure that your child will have the richest love imaginable: your love. (Admission here: I am not religious, so I do not want to sound hypocritical, but I am guessing that you personally might also add God’s love to that last sentiment, of course.) People raise money for lots of things (causes, cures, animals & disasters, just to name a few); you are raising money for your child. I cannot think of anything more worthy of a donation.

  16. Stephanie says

From one adoption mom to another soon to be….may God Bless you through your journey. Your song brought tears to my eyes and wonderful memories of bringing home our 3 babies. Thank you for sharing your hearts. I hope that our donation can help…even in just a small way. I love the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel chapter 1. She wept and cried out to the Lord and He blessed her. She named her son Samuel, which means “God Heard”. My youngest is named Samuel. God heard me when I wept and I know He has heard you.

  17. says

So many prayers and well wishes sent your way. I am so happy to be a small part of the greatest gift He could ever give you. Looking forward to following your journey and sharing your story with others.

  18. Carol Schneider says

We have adopted two children through foster care and the Gospel is never so clear as it is through adoption. The fatherless become part of a family and those without an inheritance share in the riches of the Father’s family. So beautiful!! Love the song. Just beautiful!

  19. Terry says

    “When Hope and Love collide…”

“Hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
    Romans 8:24-25

  20. Leslie says

I have enjoyed reading your blog for quite a while and my heart has been tugged over many things posted there. I appreciate so much your willingness to help others in every kind of facet in your life. The song I just downloaded is absolutely beautiful and I hope it brings your little one closer to you. I was studying in Genesis this morning about how long Abraham and Sara waited for their son and realized God’s timing is not always what we are expecting. Your reward for your faithfulness is being prepared for you while you wait. All my best!

  21. Rike says

What a beautiful song. I have been following your blog from Germany. Best of luck with the adoption. You will be wonderful parents :)

  22. says

Love your heart for adoption and God’s talent to express it in this beautiful song!!!

I am the adoption manager at Loving Shepherd Ministries. I help families at the beginning stages of adoption with research, information on eligible programs, agency research, etc. First, I wanted to say what a fantastic Christian agency that Lifeline is :) I recommend this agency to our families.

Second, we have a Funding handout which lists organizations that help adoptive parents with funding for an adoption. If you would like this handout, please let me know.

    Thanks and many prayers,
    Jen

  23. Kari J says

check out Lifesong online. They are a great organization that the adoption ministry at our church recommends that can aid you in raising funds for adoption.

  24. says

I just donated! I have a son that we adopted from Guatemala when he was one year old. He is now 13 and an absolute joy! Adoption is an amazing gift that I can’t wait for you and Kevin to receive. You will be wonderful parents!

  25. Tiffany H. says

Just sent off a small donation for you. Been following your blog for awhile and love everything you share. Kevin, this is such a beautiful song!

  26. says

Wow! What a truly inspirational song. I am humbled and feel blessed to be given the opportunity to support you and share in your journey!

  27. says

This is such a great idea!! You should also look into adoption through the foster care system. In Texas the most you pay in adoption fee’s is $1500, but most adoptions are free!!! The kids range from 0 to 18 and there are more than 6000 kids legally free for adoption every day. In Texas, the kids also get free college tuition, which can be a huge help if you can help out a sibling group or teens!!! Anyway, most people don’t know about all of the help there is to families wanting to help kids in care:-) Good luck on your journey!!!

  28. Linda Miller says

Looking forward to your journey with the child that is meant for you. Some of the most wonderful moments of my life were with my kids and grand kids. You will be terrific parents. Already looking forward to seeing how you decorate their room. :-)

  29. Shellaine says

I hope things go smoothly for you both! I can’t wait to hear more updates :) What a beautiful song, too!

  30. Carrie says

My hubby and I are also one home-study deep (which in our state means 6 months into) our adoption process. We are adopting through the county and it is free!

    • Layla says

Yay to our fellow one home-studiers! :-D Congrats on your adoption, too! We tried going through our local office first as well, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. :-( We’re going to keep forging ahead with this new process, and can’t wait to adopt a little one along with you! :-)

  31. Lori says

The song is just beautiful! You two have entertained and inspired me in so many ways! Love sharing this journey with you!

  32. Becky says

So very happy for you!!! My husband and I are one tearful, yielded prayer into our adoption journey. :0) We have chosen the same age. It’s so hard to go to bed at night when I just want to rock our child to sleep. We are faced with the same obstacle as you with financing all of it. But our God will do far above what we could ever ask or think!! He WILL supply all our needs! As Hudson Taylor said “God’s work done God’s way will never lack God’s supply.” I will be praying for you.

  33. says

I posted about this on my Facebook. Probably should have asked you first, but figured that since your blog is so public, you have a great many people reading anyway.

May you bring your little one home soon–we know he or she is waiting for you as much as you are waiting for him/her/them.

  34. says

In reading the other comments, I wondered if you have thought about alerting the media about the song…K-Love, AFR, etc. It would make a great heartwarming story and you could share more about adoption. Just throwing out random thoughts; I tend to be a real brainstormer.

  35. says

Just donated. Adoption is such a beautiful example of Christ’s love for his children. May the Lord bless you and Kevin in this process, may it all happen in God’s perfect timing, and as you wait, may the Lord draw both of you closer to himself.

  36. Kathy says

I know that by the end of the day your financial obstacle will be behind you…The song and the story are beautiful. Bless you both and the little one that is waiting for you.

What a touching song. So glad to follow your journey. Just think, your little one is out there somewhere and will one day hear his/her daddy ‘s song and know they were loved deeply from the very beginning.

  43. says

I LOVE IT! Around Christmas time, I was struggling with the feeling of not being able to “do more” for others. I have a little etsy shop that had been pretty neglected, and I decided it’s time to get back at it, and donate part of my profits to worthy causes. There of course are SO many opportunities to donate, that I didn’t know where to begin, and decided I would let God “tell” me what felt right with each donation. I was thrilled when I opened this email today and was “told” this is the one I needed to help. Although I can’t give a large amount, I know that others have been spoken to also, and this will happen for you. I have several friends who have adopted, and know through their experiences how joyous it is. Can’t wait to read about your happy ending. :)

I really love this song. It is a sweet song for your little one you haven’t met, but it could also be very relatable to any new parent. I found myself thinking of all of my own children as they were newborns and small toddlers. The feelings are so strong. Thanks for sharing and best of luck to you on this adventure. I wonder who God is preparing for you…Exciting to think about!!

Just donated in honor of my daughter’s 1st Birthday and hopefully your own child’s Birthday someday soon! What a beautiful, heartfelt song. Little Vivianne loved it! We pray that many blessings come your way throughout this journey. Your child will be blessed with wonderful, faithful parents. <3

  59. Angela says

The song is so beautiful! I hope my little contribution helps to bring big blessing to your lives!

    xxoo!

  60. says

Wow! I am typing through tears as I listen to this beautiful song over and over again.
On Tuesday I will be induced at 37 weeks pregnant with a baby girl that I’ve dreamt about my whole life. 20 years ago I was told by a doctor that I likely would not be able to have children of my own and now here I am counting down the final days until she arrives.
This song truly touched my heart and I look forward to playing it and singing it for my sweet little one very soon.
Thanks for sharing your talent! I pray that you are able to raise enough to complete the adoption process!
God bless you both, and your future child as well!

  61. ChrisA. says

You two young folks will make great parents, hope this little bit helps make your dream (and your little one’s) come true! Bless you both!

  62. Katie says

We love the song! We are currently in the process of adopting two from Haiti. We have been matched with a 3 year old girl and her bio brother, a 7 month old boy. (We also have two children at home…a 9 and 7 year old).

We have been amazed at God’s provision and faithfulness. Finances are a difficult part of the journey…God has blessed us through many people already. I know He will provide for you too! Praying for your journey…difficult, beautiful journey! Keep trusting!

And by the way…my husband and I got to meet our kiddos (Haiti is a little different than other countries…)the love for an adopted child is the same as for a bio child!

    So excited for your family!!

  63. says

    oh my, you guys.
my heart just EXPLODED with worship and glory to the One Who holds all of this knowledge and unknown answers for each and every one of us in the palm of His hand.
my heart aches for the little ones out there who need loving, Godly homes.
my only consolation to their situations is that God is the Father to the fatherless and He cares so deeply about each one. praise Him!
my husband just sent me a pic of two orphaned Haitian siblings.
we are not sure if God has adoption for us in the future, but we are open to it, and waiting for His answer.
thank you for bearing your heart and soul to us and sharing this beautiful work of art.
what a blessing to have this to cherish and look back upon when you are holding your precious little one.
    xoxo

  64. Liz says

It’s just amazing to me what God will do when we take that leap of faith and make the first step on the journey that He has for us! My husband and I, like you, don’t know HOW it will happen, but we are believing that God will add to our family tree, too! These truly are “BABY STEPS”! Walking right there along with you and praying for peace, strength, and courage the whole way!
