I try not to wonder about 2-26 too much, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little curious about what this particular 2-26 might bring with it. We got two reeeeally encouraging updates from our adoption caseworker yesterday. Like, fall-to-your-knees-and-just-sob-prayers-of-thanksgiving-and-hope-out-loud-to-the-Lord kind of updates. Updates that could lead to another very exciting blog post later today? I don’t know.
What I do know is this. Although I have been “pregnant” for 3+ years, hope still courses through my veins on even the most difficult of days.
What I do know is that, no matter what happens today, anticipation will continue to gallop wildly in my heart, because although I may not look like I’m “with child”, I can promise you there’s an indescribable love growing there.
However motherhood comes to you, it’s a miracle…and whatever day it comes on, that’s a miracle too. 🙂
PS- The book in this post is wonderful (What I Do Know
, by Lori Schlecht), and I literally gasped when I opened the package it came in today.

You glow in every picture. I think that is a pretty good indication you are “with child”. Your labor may have been slightly different but it was a labor, a definite labor of love.

I have been following your blog for a number of years and am so excited for you!! Someone once told me, and I’ve heard it a number of times, your child is your heart walking around outside of your body. I feel that so intensely. I never wanted to have children and then God had a different plan and I’m so glad he did. I’ve known love my whole life, have been blessed, but there is no love like the one you feel for your child. You are showered with blessings and prayers today; I cannot wait for your heart to come home <3

That boy is one blessed kid to have you as his mother :). God knew what He was doing when He paired Sweet P with you and Kevin! I can’t wait to see the picture of all three of you. What a miracle :)! You are giving him an opportunity for a life that will be blessed beyond measure. A life growing up in a Christian home. Wow. Just Wow.

Sweet P (which came from Mr. P, Mrs. P and Sweet P) is just an “online nickname”. We will call him by his real name and a shortened version of his (10-letter) real name. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Hi Layla – I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months now, after being turned onto it by a friend who is also an adoptive mom (our 3 yr old who we adopted domestically at birth is named Laila :). I can’t wait to see how your story continues to unfold as we are in the process of adopting again, but from Haiti! We started late last July with an agency and our dossier got sent to Haiti on 2/8 so we are just beginning our “wait”. But thinking about that and reading about your hope filled me up, and my eyes too ;). Blessings to your family, and good luck on these last legs of the adoption journey!
Oh, what excitement you both must feel in your hearts. How do you keep it so calm? Just know that he will come to you very soon now. Always let him know that he was so wonderful that you chose him out of so many. My prayers are that you will hold him in your arms, right there in your home now. How he will love that sweet little room you’ve created for him.

My question is this: Do you think this book would be too “old” for a boy age 12 and a girls age 9, both from China, that are being adopted by a family in our church? The children don’t know much English yet, but this looks like a wonderful gift to give to the family.

Our journey to get our son from Ukraine was 9 months. And we brought our (local private adoption) daughter home during those same 9 months. As I like to say, “Most women are pregnant for 9 months. I was in ‘labor’ for 9 months!” Praying for patience and daily encouragement through this arduous (but well worth it) process.
