Thought-Full Thursday: Rise And Shine

Mar 9, 2017 By Layla

“Rise and shine. I’ve always held such fondness for that sweet old phrase. As though we are all little Suns. As though we are all someone’s Day.”
―Beau Taplin

I’m heading out of town to meet up with the other mamas who adopted kiddos from Steevenson’s orphanage this weekend. We are gathering in Leiper’s Fork, from all over the country, but like a cluster of islands, we are forever connected in the deep. We’re all at different points in our adoption adventures, and our experiences have been the same in some ways, but *very* different in others. I can hardly wait to spend a couple of days with them. They are “little Suns”! 😀

This will be the first time I’ve been away from Steevenson (for more than a few hours) since he came home last August, so we’ll see how it goes…and how it goes after I come back home. It seems like he processes the same experiences differently from day to day, so it’s always a mystery how he’s going to react to every little thing. He really is doing great though. We’re all still trying to #FigureOutFamily, but there is a lot less physical aggression these days, and we’re so relieved he is starting to trust and feel comfortable with us.

Thought I’d share this short video of him “working” in the Bungalow Barn. It’s so much fun to see things come together through his eyes!

Yeah…I’m not sure why my email service hasn’t been working this week. I’ll have to look into that next week! 🙂
