I received the following message from my Uncle Kevin via email last night and it made me think/smile so I thought I’d post it here for Thought-Full Thursday. 🙂

Charles Schulz Philosophy
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the ‘Peanuts’ comic strip.
You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them. Just read the post straight through, and you’ll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4 Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies.
Awards tarnish.
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
Easier?
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money or the most awards. They simply are the ones who care the most.
Pass this on to those people who have either made a difference in your life, or whom you keep close in your heart, and don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia!
Brilliant.
Layla,
Wow, this really hits home and it makes me consider when raising our son Luke that what’s important to society really isn’t what’s important in the end.
Hope your 1st Christmas with Sonny is magical. I love seeing him soar with you both as his parents. A true blessing.
Merry Christmas,
Betsy Gordon
I love this! Would it be OK to share it on my blog? I’ll link it back to you!
Layla, the perfect Christmas gift to us! ???
Thanks for sharing!
Good morning Layla,
Amen to such wise words….
Thank you for the tidings of comfort and joy!

Luke 2:14
Very true! Happy Thursday Layla!
This was a great exercise and one of the reasons I became a high school teacher was b/c of those who influenced me in my young life.
God bless you, Layla and co. May God continue to use you to impact many lives through this blog.
This is so awesome!!!!!
What a great perspective to share. Thank you.
Love this! I needed this today 🙂
Charles Schultz is one of my favorites …what insight.
I found it so amazing that when he wrote his last comic strip, on the morning it was published, as it was hitting the driveway, was the time he also passed on..to Heaven, I believe.
Thanks for sharing!
So right.
So true!
I’ve seen this before and love it. So glad you posted it.
Thanks, I needed the reminder about credentials. I’m harshest on myself, my modesty sometimes also hinders me. I’ll practice telling myself “I’m pretty darn awesome.”
Thanks hun!
Yes, Layla, we do get to test run New Years Day here Downunder! Thank you for your Thoughtful Thursday. I look forward to them. And all the other posts you write. Very inspiring!
