DIY Halloween Pumpkins

Sep 27, 2012 By Layla

Our friend Sarah is hosting a “easy fall decor” link party over at Thrifty Decor Chick today, so we thought we’d link up a few DIY Halloween pumpkin ideas. Click on the links below if you’d like to read our step-by-steps!

1. Parsnip and Carrot-Nosed Pumpkin Characters

2. How To Make Glittered Pumpkins

3. How To Make A Pretty Fretwork Pumpkin

4. How To Make A Monogrammed Pumpkin

5. Cute Owl Pumpkin

6. Fabric-Patterned Painted Pumpkin

7. Mini Bat Pumpkins

We’re hoping to move into our new house in a couple of weeks, and although I’m not sure we’ll be settled enough to decorate the front porch with pumpkins this year, we are looking SO forward to gussyin’ it up for Christmas! Off to round up some more moving boxes…

A thought for moving boxes – call your local computer store, no matter the brand, they usually have boxes you can pick up from their loading docks. Plus, liquor store boxes are the bomb for glassware..

Adorable ideas. Congrats on the new adventure. Can’t wait to see the new digs. So happy for you guys. I say decorate the porch before you even unpack a box. That way, every time you pull in the driveway, you will smile because it will look so cozy and inviting, thereby motivating you to unpack and put your stamp on it all.

I like Ginger’s idea. That way you will feel instantly at home. I guess the hard part may be finding the Fall decor box.

The owl is SO cute and the ones with the noses are hilariously great! I’ve gotta get me some pumpkins to decorate asap… I wonder how long pumpkins will last? I don’t want them to die well before Halloween?

Layla & Kevin~So happy your deal is moving forward! When you got an offer so soon (without a broker, too!) I just knew it was meant to be. New beginning for the two of you & new fun for your loyal readers with another BIG project to watch you put your special brand of design creativity toward. Looking forward to the first look! Someone is getting a beautiful home, too, filled with lots of happy memories! Good luck with the move!

I especially love the fretwork pumpkin and the cute owl pumpkin. I’m trying so hard not to love the glittered pumpkin, but I’m not succeeding. Okay, I guess I’ll just give in and love them all. But that fretwork one is my absolute favorite! Trying something similar, or trying to try, at least! 🙂

    Hey Layla and Kev:
A note….”off the beaten path here”………but I am needing to purchase a couple of area rugs. I don’t want to break the bank, you know. But need a nice 7×9 and a 5×8. Pottery Barn is a tad high……….Overstock.com looks good. Might you have any suggestions????
I am also looking for a couple mercury glass lamps for my bedroom. Pottery Barn has some nice ones, but $200@ is out of my league. What might you suggest???
I am thinking HOW COOL it would be……if we could see the places you recommend we shop. Maybe have a Layla/Kev Shopping Closet?????? Can you imagine how much that would help all of us???? It would just be divine.
Also……….November is approaching………..when do you kids leave for “parts unknown”…………? How can we help make your trip an even bigger success?????? Anything we can do?
    Love ya
    Ter’e

I am head over heels with your blog (found it during a sleepless night of beautiful blog searching for Halloween inspiration *_^) and I’ve pinned your gorgeous ideas and shared them on my FB page!. I love how easy yet impacting these pumpkins can be, they’re perfect for those who can’t carve them, and I love them because this way you can use them for Halloween, take off the details and use them through thanksgiving!. Un-carved pumpkins can last for months!. Thanks so much for the wonderful ideas!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

These are so great! We don’t really do “Halloween” around here…more like “Harvest”…so I could totally make these pumpkins. Thanks for the suggestions 🙂

Aww so lovely pumpkin decor, gave me some good ideas. I am thinking to go for little funky. I’d like to have Parsnip and Carrot Pumpkin or Cute Owl Pumpkin decor this year.

I hope that would be so fun.
