5 Places I’d Love To Visit

Apr 20, 2016 By Layla

Hello! Each Wednesday I share some of the photos that stopped me in my tracks while I was scrolling Instagram the previous week. This week, I thought I’d share five photos of places I found on Instagram that I’d love to visit! (Maybe some of you live near them and have visited them and I can live vicariously through you in the comment section?) Here are the feeds I found them in:

1. @TheVintageRoundtop – Round Top, Texas:

The Vintage Roundtop

Their website says:

From urbanites looking to escape the city, to girlfriend getaways, group or community retreats, a romantic escape for couples, or a connective family vacation, The Vintage Round Top gives you the opportunity to travel to a setting of vintage elegance that brings you back to the core of what matters.

Renovated in 2011 by Smoot and Paige Hull, the home sits on a prime piece of pastoral property in Round Top, Texas — home of renowned antiquing shopping and stunning countryside. The 2,700 square foot home was designed with sustainability in mind. It was comprised of reclaimed building materials and unique vintage finds creatively re-purposed into furniture, lighting and décor.

The home rental sleeps up to 6 with a master bedroom (king bed) and full bath downstairs, a private sleeping loft (queen bed and two twins) with a half bath upstairs, and an additional full bath downstairs. It also offers a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining room with seating for 8-10, a full size washer/dryer, cozy bed/bath linens, RVT bath amenities, central AC/heat, WIFI, and satellite TV. It is located only one mile from Round Top Square and a quarter mile from Festival Hill.

By combining modern, clean lines with reclaimed vintage touches, the “Modern Vintage” style was defined. All usable materials and fixtures taken out of the original home were donated to Habitat for Humanity. A percentage of all rentals is also donated to this special charity.

I’ve always wanted to go to the Round Top Antiques Fair. Have you ever been? If not, let’s go and rent this place together sometime! 😀

2. @LynneKnowlton‘s treehouse – 2 hours northwest of Toronto, Ontario, Canada…near a sleepy little town called Durham:

If you haven’t seen the interior photos of Lynne’s treehouse, laTREEN, and Airstream- you *must* click through that link. I just discovered them today, and I *really* struggled to narrow this down to one! She has created such a cool little getaway and based on her Instagram captions, I would really love to meet her in person someday!

3. @UniqueHomeStays – Cornwall, United Kingdom:

You’re welcome. 😉

4. @FrenchLarkspur – Beuvron-en-Auge, France:

Her caption didn’t mention where she was staying, but with storefronts like that, I’m sure there are amazing accommodations nearby too! Oh yes, here’s one for $105/night: Demeure Normande de Caractère…

5. @The_Barn_Loft – Fayetteville, West Virginia:

I think I love everything you love Layla! Round Top, Cornwall ( I swoon over PBS’s Poldark!) & France all interest me in a big way. I too have always wanted to go to the Round Top Antique Show and have been near there twice in the last 2 years but I just couldn’t get my husband to give me a thumbs up. He would love the Cornwall, France and Holly’s WV Barn Loft.

I have been to Round Top Antique Festival many times and love it every time! I have my vendors I like to frequent – my linens lady, my cool junk lady who stages beautifully, and of course the chicken salad and brisket sandwiches are to die for. We just moved cross country from Texas to Maryland and although we love it here, Round Top is definitely one event I will miss in Texas. You absolutely should plan a visit there sometime, you will NOT be disappointed. Promise! <3 your blog, have been following you for years!

There is a place north of Maryland that you might like. It’s called Old Luckett’s General Store in Leesburg, Virginia. Check it out! It’s another place I’d love to see someday if we ever get that direction! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/205195326749896341/

I grew up right next to Lucketts. It is a fun market but they keep developing out from DC so the country feel has changed. It is pricey but fun!

I have been to the Round Top show twice. It is truly amazing. One needs at least three days to see everything. Take a U-haul?

These look fantastic! I was just looking at The Vintage Roundtop’s IG feed. Did you know they (and their community) have been devastated by the flooding in Texas? Sending positive thoughts their way.

And thanks for that find in the United Kingdom, sigh…

We live two hours West of Toronto, Ontario and my sister lived in Cornwall for 2 years, so I’m sure she’d say visiting is nice but living there for that long was not so magical.

Layla…Round Top is my very favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. Years ago hubby and I traded a time share for Austin, TX ( hub graduated from UT) He golfs, I antique. I went to an antique mall first day… on way out I asked if there was any other place they recommended…sweet lady asked how long we would be there. I told her for a week. She could not stop telling me how to get to Roundtop…it was the beginning of antiques week. She told me my eyes were going to bug out of my head! My husband had a golf time with former college friend. We only had a rental car ( one ) I dropped him off and headed out for Round Top. It took me two hours to get there! I had about 45 minutes to shop!!!!!!! I sadly left…picked up my husband ( he was waiting in the parking lot ) and told him.” This is what it is like. Pretend you are playing golf with Tiger Woods and you are WINNING and you only get to play two holes!!!!!!!!!!!!” Since I have been about eight times and it is still my favorite destination. One reader commented you need three days. We stay a week and it is still difficult to do it all and the girlfriends are close to tears that we have to leave. You MuSt go. Hugs, CeCe Go with Girlfriends!

Roundtop is the best! Fields and fields of marvelous finds just waiting for you to discover. The people and atmosphere are so interesting and the food is fabulous. Live music, interesting stories, pulling around your very own cooler, characters and junk galore! It’s a fairyland for junkers, designers, & collectors! We live in San Antonio and plan biannual vacations to visit and experience Roundtop.

Hi Layla, I wish one of those places was near where I live. I’d invite you over to stay and give you a tour…oh well!!! I hope you get a chance to see any or all of them. They all look awesome!

I live in Fayetteville, WV right next to the barn! I have never stayed ther because I live here but Holly always seems to have a lot of guests. We live the New River Gorge and it is beautiful here and our town is a nice little small town with great restaurants. It would be worth a trip. I moved here from the DC area because of the rock climbing but there is so much more to this place and I love that I know most everybody because it is a small town. I hope you get a chance to visit!
