We’re coming up on our 9 year wedding anniversary this June, but it’s been 10 years since I saw him standing there.
Across the room, with his back to the wall…one knee bent up, and the bottom of his sneaker planted up against the wall behind him.
He had his hat on backwards. I’ve always been a sucker for that. I was at-first-sight smitten with his long-ish hair and perfect nose, but I definitely wasn’t looking to fall in love right then. I was concentrating on my job, and definitely wasn’t going to be distracted by his (dreamy) arms, and broad shoulders. *sigh*
I was working, and he was waiting. We exchanged small smiles and tiny waves…his, because he was shy…mine, because I wasn’t quite sure if he was looking at me.
Was he looking at me?
He was. *smile*
That’s just a small sliver of what I remember about the day I met my Valentine, ten years ago this March.
We’re spending today working on the half bath, ’cause he knows I’m not a “chocolate, and roses, and night out on the town” kind of a gal.
He knows that demolition and hex tile are the way to this girl’s heart- ha!
I’m going to surprise him with this spoon art when he wakes up…
I’ve got a couple more fun little goodies to surprise him with today- but since he also knows that I’m a “surpriser” by nature, I’m sure he’s already figured that out!
Happy Valentines Day!
*The spoon art was created by my talented friend, KariAnne, who has published some super sweet love story posts over at her place: A Pancake Love Story, Once Upon A Time, Love and Lee Press-on Nails.

OMG I love the Spoon gift, so clever

Just have to say that I didn’t realize I was a sucker for a cap worn backwards until I saw my photographer husband turn his around so it wouldn’t be in the way when he snapped a photo. OMGosh! Swoon!!! 🙂
By the way, the spoon art is so very creative and clever! Great idea.
I like the flowers and a night out but I love it when my hubby does “acts of service” for me such as projects on the “honey-do list.” Wasn’t aware of this either until I read, The 5 Love Languages book. Have you read that?
Wishing you both many more years of happy “spooning” together!
Genny
Aw, such a sweet story! Love how you met – and love your “spooning” surprise.

How fun to have a new home as a blank canvas. It looks fantastic and I look forward to lots more on how it is coming along!
Did you do the spoon art yourself or have it commissioned? Love it!!!!

Love these !!!! I think this will be added to my Pinterest to-do list 🙂

I UH-DORE this! These types of things that you guys do for each other are what tell me (without knowing you in the slightest!) that you will be really phenomenal parents. Such love is found in the details :).

What a lovely gift to share with your special valentine.
I’m looking forward to seeing your new powder room. I have an older house and am trying to return it to its 1930’s glory. Your faucets look perfect – would you share the brand?
Keep up the lovely writing. Your adventures are great fun to follow!
Lacy
Does she sell the spoon art??? Would love one of these!
Layla
I’m not sure, Lacy. Here’s a link to her blog if you’d like to drop her a line! 😀
