Remember that little chest of drawers we found for my friend Carlie’s room a few weeks back? Well, it’s got a new look! She and her mom painted it with (Cotton White) Farmhouse Paint and it looks so pretty next to her bed!
They replaced the knobs with some new ones from Hobby Lobby too:
They also painted Carlie’s bed and dresser with Farmhouse Paint. I don’t want to reveal them til we’ve got the whole room done, but here’s a sneak peek of the bed:
The color is called Gray Limoge, and they did such a beautiful job applying and distressing it! We hung up the plates last weekend and I love how they visually extend her headboard. What a pretty and inexpensive way to fill in that area!
Here’s a sneak peek at the “Samantha Damask” duvet cover (in blue) she’s going to use on her bed:
She’s going to pair it with this white pick-stitch quilt and euro shams:
I’ve had the same quilt and shams for several years and I love how easy it is to layer in different duvets and pillows with it when I want to change up the look. And speaking of our bedroom- I’ll be back Monday with a new post and some updated pics. It’s looking a lot different already! 😀
Joanne
Who is the maker of the pick stitch quilt?
Layla
It’s made by Pottery Barn, Joanne. I can usually find them on eBay too! 🙂
Vicky
I looked at the link for Farmhouse Paint but I couldn’t see what kind of paint it is. Chalk paint?
Layla
Hi Vicky!
It’s not chalk paint, but it’s sort of like it. The neat part is, unlike chalk paint, you don’t have to use wax on top of it when you’re done painting. The sealer is mixed right in with the paint! 🙂

How exciting!! I cannot wait to see the reveal!! We have a damask print quilt from at least 4 years ago that I still LOVE- we just added one of the pick stitch quilts this year as a layer, and I love it even more! Can’t wait to see what kind of accent pillows you guys add!

Love it all! Been thinking of painting our guest bedroom furniture with chalk paint but now I am reconsidering it. Where can you find the farmhouse paint?
donna
Amber, I used Farmhouse Paint on my kitchen cabinets, and I was very pleased with the results. Here is a link to their site.
http://farmhousepaint.com/ You can find a retail location on their website.
Hope this helps!

Four bedrooms in my house and all have pick stitch quilts. Nothing better to sleep under!

Layla, I love white fabrics, but I cannot seem to keep them clean with two cats in the house. How do you do it with a dog and a cat??? Every time I see pictures of your beautiful, light fabrics, I wonder about that.
Layla
Hi Donna! 🙂
I guess you just can’t see the hair on ours from far away- LOL!
I do use the vacuum and lint rollers now and then too though. 😉 (And painters tape if I’m out of lint rollers- ha!)

OH. MY. STARS *** I Big Fat Puffy HEART LOVE that headboard. Gorgeous Room! Knocked it out of the park again Layla and Friends! Come to TEXAS! I have an old farmhouse begging for your touch! 😉
Maryjane from MB Canada
Oh my gosh! I wanna see the whole reveal! I know it’ll be absolutely amazing…
🙂 Maryjane
P.S. I’d say come to Canada but you’d freeze your pretty little behind off. 🙂 …and I’d totally melt down there.

Where is the pick stitch quilt from?

I love the plates above the bed! Several years ago, I read in a decorating book not to use plates in a bedroom. Well, that stuck in my head. I recently inherited a bunch of hand painted China plants and so wanted to hang above my guestroom bed. But, I kept seeing the sentence from that book ‘do not use plates or chickens in bedroom decor’. Why did I pay attention to such silliness? Thanks for the confirmation I was seeking. The plates are going up and erasing that silly rule from my brain!

Great transformation on the dresser, and I love the idea of hanging plates above the bed! And that duvet cover pattern is stinkin perfect! Can’t wait to see the reveal 🙂

OOOOOOHHHHHH! I can already tell I am really going to like this!

We have a dark room that looks almost exactly like this. The fireplace wall is completely bricked with an ugly fireplace insert (fits flat into the brick). To ha e a look like this would you build directly over the brick?
Also in one of the last pictures you have the back of the couch showing towards us kind of in middle of room. I like that look but I have a half wall several feet back and I never know what to put back there were the couch to be in that spot. any ideas?
Lauren
Looks great and I love the new night table! Those handles are too darling as well. Can’t wait to see the reveal!

Something weird is going on again… My feed of your blog isn’t updating again? It’s been stuck on this post for a week and I know your updating it because of Instagram! Am I doing something wrong?? Is anyone else having this problem?? I need my TLC!
Layla
Hmmm, that’s so strange Donelle! I’ll check with my web tech and see if she has any suggestions. In the meantime, if you clear your cache/cookies, I bet all the new posts will show up. Thanks for the heads up! XO

What is her wall color? I want to try to duplicate this look. It’s very soothing.
