Remember that one time we used Stikwood on our fireplace makeover?
We stuck it to the front of the built-in cabinetry and on the frame around the upper part of the fireplace, as well as on the sliding shutters we made:
Well, I helped my friend, Tim, with another Stikwood project recently, and thought I’d share the “after” photos here in case anyone out there is thinking about getting the Reclaimed Weathered Wood White planks and wants to see more photos of what it looks like.
First, here’s a wide shot of the area Tim stuck his planks to:
It’s in his home recording studio, and I love the way it adds character to that corner!
Here’s a close-up shot so you can see the colors and texture:
The nail holes are my favorite. 🙂
Last, but not least, here’s one of Tim precious family because they’re the ones that really makes this place pop!
And here’s a video that features his cute fam if you’ve got a moment to watch/listen:
Tim is such a great songwriter, and the lyrics on that one feel like such an important invitation into a really powerful perspective.
I’ll be back Wednesday with more Insta-inspiration. Until then, be safe and well, friends!

Great video!!!
You really need the right ambience for that to work. Something a little rustic and informal. A farmhouse or cottage feel.

Love his space… and the nail holes =swooooon!
Layla I’m sure you shared awhile ago but I’m in the process of having a small barn door made in my laundry room. Can you share where your track came from? My local Home Depot does sell them now, I’d have to have the medal cut because it’s so long. Sooooo I thought maybe you can purchase ones smaller AND save alittle money!
Thanks Layla!!!

Great room! Such a great song and video…needed it today.
Karen
I love the nail holes! Did he add the nail holes to add more authenticity? Because I thought it just stuck to the walls.
Layla
Nope! That particular finish comes just the way it looks…nail holes and all!

Love the use of this product! I especially love the sliding shutters you made Layla. Is this easy to cut with a regular utility knife?
Layla
We didn’t use a utility knife, and here’s an answer about what kinds of tools they recommend on their FAQs page:
“The thin planks of Stikwood make for cutting ease. You can use a mitre saw, chop saw, hand saw or jigsaw. Be sure to use a fine tooth blade with whichever saw you choose.”

Layla,
Thank-you for always being such an inspiration. Tim’s video along with his sweet family was very touching. Prayers for them all.
Cecilia
Love how the wall turned out. But the video? Amazing! It can speak to any of our struggles. Prayers for Tim and his family.
Gail
Would love to hear more from Tim. Keep us up to date with his life please. Love the wall. Trying to talk my son into helping me do this is my long hall way. Gorgeous song.

Tim’s message was like a sweet balm washing over my heart. Thank you for sharing this video, I surely need this today. What an amazing song . I would like to have updates on how Tim is doing.
Thank you Layla

Do you think the stikwood would work in a humid environment, like a bathroom?
Layla
Here’s what I found on their FAQs page:
“It can work in a bathroom setting as long as you take the proper prep steps before installing. If possible, let your walls dry out for a day before installing and after a day after installing. It’s important that you allow the material to acclimate outside of the box and unwrapped for 48 hours. Be sure to also use a J-Roller during installation to ensure proper adhesion for each plank.”
Amanda
It looks fantastic! I love that space. My husband is so enamored with Stikwood, he’s dying to use it in our house, but our walls are heavily textured so we’d have to sand first. Boo!

Well I didn’t intend to cry this morning…but I’m sooooo glad I heard that song anyway. Really beautiful with such perfect words. May the Lord bless that family with grace and mercy. Thank you for sharing. And oh my goodness, I LOVE STIKWOOD! Already saved it to Pinterest for my Honey Do List! Happy Monday.

Great look. Wish it would work in my bedroom. As reader above said, need the right look for the Stikwood to work.
Love Tim’s message. Inspiring and great reminder that we are His, even in our brokenness. Thank you for sharing Layla.

Love it! Looks so good!
Charlotte Lindsay
This is great! I love the way that the white wood brings warm and a more modern flair on an otherwise rustic style!
Carol Pitts
Such a pretty space. Would you mind sharing the brand for your Light French Gray paint color?
Layla
Thanks, Carol! Light French Gray is a Sherwin-Williams color.

I was just thinking about Stikwood the other day! Thanks for this post. Also, thanks for the video. Tim Timmons’ songs are great. Can tell by looking at his videos that he has a heart for God. May he live many more years to be used by God.
Tracey
Thank you for posting Tim’s video. I was very touched by the message. He has a beautiful soulful voice, and a beautiful family. So talented!
God’s blessings to them!

I have an unrelated question. I noticed the chippy corbels on your fireplace and I also have chippy corbels that I want to make a shelf with for our kitchen. Not near food prep areas! Should I seal it with shellac? I’m worried about messing up the cool patina on it but also don’t know if its “dangerous” to have lead paint in the house. (even if in small doses)
Melissa Dahl
Where did they get their rug? It all works beautifully in the room!
Layla
I’m not sure, Melissa. I’ll ask! 🙂

Interesting product. Can you use Stikwood on ceilings? I would like that “farmhouse” look in my kitchen with this product.
Lauren
That looks fantastic!! Beautiful family and great voice.
