Wowzahs!
That is a beautiful spot. It calls for a book and something delicious to sip on!
I’m going to guess the thing in the trunk will grow up to be a coffee table.

I am super jealous of your Mom’s garden! My family would survive solely on fast food and work would fire me….I could never leave. haha
Layla
I’m super jealous of her garden too! 🙂

I’m so anxious — have several old chicken coops in the barn just waiting to do something creative with them. Can you give us a hint?????

You are so inspiring! I have caught the bug! I have been struggling with our patio furniture for a few years. We moved into a new-construction house about 9 years ago. The patio furniture thing was always a dilemma. Since money was tight, we bought an inexpensive vinyl set, that lasted about 5 years and then it was just so brittle and faded that it had to go.
We looked at new patio furniture but there was a big problem…eveything that is affordable is very weak and cheaply made. I don’t want to have to buy new stuff every 2 years because the furniture is just not very sturdy. So we looked at more sturdy patio furniture and were shocked by the price tag on them…$4K-$5K!!!! Definitely NOT in our budget.
We had a very sturdy patio set stored in our basement from our old house…the problem is that it is now about 17 years old so it is very dated and SOOOO not in line with our current taste. I hate to admit it, but there was a time when I thought mint green patio furniture was appealing! LOL
So I have decided that I am going to try to sew new fabric covers for the cushions this weekend and will buy some of that spray paint you used on your bed frame for the metal table and chair frames. I have basic sewing skills so I figure, what the heck! Wish me luck!
Layla
I say go for it! I would love to see pics when you’re done! 🙂

OOOOHHHH!!! I can’t wait to see what you do with the old chicken crates! I wish the weather around here would straighten up so I could go out and do some stuff outside! It seems its always raining! Maybe this weekend I can get out there, I think the sun is SUPOOSED to shine!
Kevin
I hope the weather is beautiful for you this weekend!
Jennifer
Ooooo I have one of those too. I turned mine into shelves and it holds all my ironware. I am intrigued to see what you do with the chicken coop.
Kevin
Love the idea of shelves!

Very interested in your chicken crate project. I bought one last year and have been trying to figure out something cool to do with it. I was thinking a coffee table for the back patio. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Lolo
Oh my goodness….that crate! Im thinking a uber-cool chandelier 😉
But a coffee table would look kick-butt too.
Cant wait to see what you guys have been up to!

Layla,
Does Jude know you shared her SECRET garden?! Shhh… 🙂
I’ll say the chicken crate is going to be a coffee table, book/wall shelves or a hassock.
Your Friend,
Deborah

This whole wall is just for you
Should I paint it blue?

Hey there my Layla I know some projects are hard
But just believe me girl
Sometimes I ask for help at our hardware store
We have it good..
We have the life we knew we would
This life is good!
Hey there my Layla we’ve got so much work today
If we don’t get right to it soon
We’ll waste the hours of this day
Let’s do it all
Whoa, I hope that I don’t fall
Hey, what’s an awl?
Oh our home is TLC
Oh our home is TLC
Oh our home is TLC

Come on let’s jump into the car
The antique store’s not very far
I hear that they have stuff on sale today
Our friends all love to hang with us
And we know why – must be because
We’d help them out in any sort of way
Yeah Layla I can promise you
That by the time we get through
Our home will never ever be the same
We’ll take the blame
Hey there my Layla, off I go
But don’t you miss me – I’ll be back before you know it
And we’ll keep on getting’ crafty like we do
We can do whatever we want to
We’ve got mad skills and tools and glue
I’ll do whatever you want me to
Wait, did you say blue?

You are a tease…plain and simple. HA!

I’ve used my chicken coop as a wall cabinet with a shelf inside and the door left open. I’ve also used it as a small sofa/entry/hall table in a narrow space with a piece of glass on top. Can’t wait to see your idea. They are such fun pieces to use!
Kevin
Wall cabinet and table….love it!
judy h.
The lovely little garden spot looks like it belongs in a fairy tale with a princess!
Jan
Love the secret garden! And now the chicken coop…lighting, table, shelves, cabinet…so many great choices! Can’t wait to see how you use it!
Blessings!!
Patty
Can’t wait to see what you do! We have a outdoor space that I know has great potential I just don’t have a vision yet. I’m in desperate need of ideas.
The Treasure Huntress
Oh my…what a truly super secret garden that looks like! I’ll take my coffee there any day!

Layla, I can not wait to see what you and Kevin do with that chicken coop. I have dragged one around the world(literally for my husband is in the Army)for 16 years not wanting to part with my fabulous $10.00 find. I knew one day I would figure out what to do with it. Well, I think that day might be fast approaching!!
Rebecca @ RemadeHome.com
oh fun! I can’t wait to see what it is!
I love your mom’s blue door in her secret garden so much!!!
We’re just getting started on our suburban backyard and the thought of having such a private, gorgeous, secluded space really speaks to me. I think my kids would especially love it 🙂 Like a little spot to hide away in-beautiful!
Amelia@ Home Decors
What a pretty blue door. Secret garden indeed. Where does the blue door lead too? Do you trim the hanging plants or you just let it grow? I love how wild and bushy it is.
I can’t wait what you’ll do with the wooden cage. I hope it will be a great DIY project.
jane
I am headed to her garden……………….Outside space is so much better than indoor space…Mother Nature does the BEST work!!. Miss you. …tell your Mom I am on the way!!!!!!
