Greetings!
We have some exciting news to share today! We’ve been working on something “design TV-related” for a while now, and we’re really excited about the direction it’s moving in.
Think: our blog in 3D…meaning, low-dough/high-smile room redos, real-life DIY adventures, and lots of YOU!
At this point, we need to see if you’d be into A) having us over to help you redo a room or two (or three!), and/or B) helping us redo someone’s elses space(s). (Maybe you’re a mural artist, or a seamstress, or you’d just like to lend a helping hand by painting a wall or working on a craft project with us, etc.)
We also need to know what area you live in. (City/State/Country) (You can live anywhere, and every comment will be read!)
We hoping to round up as many responses as we can in the next 48 hours, so if you’re interested, and you have time to leave a comment, please do!
We’re working with some super-talented and creative folks and they’re very interested in seeing the response to this post, so please don’t be shy, and thank you so much! We’ll definitely keep you posted and we hope to hug you soon!
PS- We’d also like to invite you to join us on Facebook & Twitter!
(We’re seeking responses on those sites too! Thank You!)
Amanda
I’m late, too. LOL. But, if something comes up in the DC area for you guys, I’m happy to offer my painting, spackling, whatever! home improvements skills to help out. I also sew and quilt, so I’d be happy to contribute in that way, too.
I’d say I’d love to have you guys at our house, but we’re planning to sell in a year and it’s a non-descript townhouse in the suburbs. Our next house will be more fun, LOL.

We are in Cadiz, KY and our living room and kitchen/dining area need the most work. I’D LOVE TO SEE ANY, I mean, ANY ideas you may have for our space. And I’d really love to say you’ve been here, I am such a huge fan!!

How did I miss this post? Argh! If you are still taking locations and need just one more location to add to your list… why not Weyauwega(why-aww-we-ga), WI. I love all of your ideas that you post and love the links to other sites. Mike and I have been together 16 years ,married 10, and have two boys ages 8 and 6. We have tackled most projects on our own but could realy use some help. We have a 2 story with a walk up atttic with something needed done in almost every room, you pick. I would love your help in anyway you’d like! That’s how much I love what you do!
Tracy Doede

I missed your deadline, but I hope you read my post and consider it. I love your blog and love your decorating style. I really, really need help in staging my house and fixing/changing some things around. The house has been on the market for almost three months now and even though people who has come to see it say it looks nice, clean, and welcoming, they don’t make an offer. We need to do some changes soon to see if we can get some offers in. My husband relocated to Charleston, SC three months ago and I’m in Idaho with my 2 small children waiting for the house to sell. We’re desperate to join him.
I would also love helping you with any projects once I move to SC. I can paint walls, furniture, etc… But I’ll be able to help with other things too.
Hope I can hear from you!!!!

I know I’m super late on this, but I’d love to help out…I’m sure there are more deserving folks as far as rooms to redo, but I would be happy to be involved if you come to Asheville, NC!

I LOVE your website and would love your help! We live in beautiful Annapolis, MD (which by the way if you haven’t been here, you would LOVE it)! We are a young couple with a little girl who bought an old house and have NO IDEA what to do with what we call our ‘front room.’ Technically it’s the original/small family room of our super cute cape cod-ish white home with a sweet, small screened in front porch. We have painted it a pretty blue/gray and installed an AMAZING beadboard white ceiling with crown molding which we love, but we are clueless as to how to design/style it. And thus, we’ve lived here a while…and it’s still empty!!! It is the first impression when you walk in our cute little house and I want it to WOW people, but it currently just houses our vaccumn under it’s fancy-pants, new ceiling. We need some TLC style and would be MORE than happy to help with other projects. Come here, it’s a great area and not far at all from DC or Baltimore! Thank you for all that you guys do, we love your website and good luck with this new project 🙂

My husband and I live in Colorado Springs. We bought a home in suburbia where all the homes look the same. I am struggling with making the inside look unique and look like a place with age and character.
We have two bedrooms and a ‘library” in need of a redo. I can send pics of the rooms as they are.
Best of luck with this new adventure. I can’t wait to hear more about it !!

Anytime, anywhere, any room – you guys are awsome!!

Well darn, I’m a little late, but could sure use a little TLC at our house. We live on 5 acres in Union, MO (Outside of St. Louis) and could really use a makeover on any of the rooms in our house, but especially our Master bedroom and/or bathroom. Not to mention we have a whole basement that is unfinished, with a TON of potential!!

Layla, I’m a little late here, but are you KIDDING? You have to ask if we would want to work on a project with you? Uh HELLS YES, thank you very much :). My husband and I are in contract on a new house in Redmond WA (just outside Seattle), and all I have to say is that the house was built in 1988 and it STILL LOOKS LIKE 1988. Pretty much every room in the house needs some updating. We have plans, of course, which include a master bath reno, a guest bath reno, a bonus room addition, and LOTS OF PAINT. The walls, the moulding, and pretty much every cabinet in the place needs paint. Luckily, I am pretty darn handy with a paintbrush :). Decorating, though, is not my forte. This is why I read your blog for inspiration! And, it’s why I would be over the moon excited if I had your personal help figuring out how to decorate the place and make it home for my husband and I and our two beautiful little girls. What an exciting venture for you!
Susan
Sorry this is late and long:
Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a love of old homes. At ten years old, my entire roll of vacation film was used photographing Victorian homes on the Jersey Shore. I would look at a dilapidated, ramshackle cottage and have to catch my breath before I could say, “Isn’t it beautiful?†and my mother would look at me like I had two heads. I always admired my Nana’s glass door knobs and plaster moldings.
In 2001, my home was finally completed. My husband, a carpenter, our two teenage boys and I built it from the ground up. Oh it was glorious. It had all the character of an old home but it was new. It had everything I ever wanted. The big front porch, gorgeous trim, real hardwood floors, windows everywhere, period reproduction lighting, hand-forged Eduardian drawer pulls from New Zealand (total bargain believe it or not!). I sanded every piece of mill work myself and lovingly applied two coats of primer and three coats of high gloss paint. Every single time I walked through the door, I had to pinch myself. I really couldn’t believe it was my home. I felt so blessed. The emotion I felt was the same as you would feel when looking at a piece of art.
Unfortunately, I did not get to live in that house for very long because, after twenty years of marriage, I found myself unexpectedly divorced. I found a sweet little rent to own house I adored. It was 900 square feet of my own little heaven. Oh the plans I had. I had already installed some bead board, trim and new five panel doors with glass door knobs. But then, the housing market crashed. And no bank was going to lend me the amount that I originally agreed to pay for the house so I had to move out of that house because the owner was anxious to sell it. I ache for that house. I truly do.
About four and a half years ago, I met my sweetie. He’s wonderful but not very handy. I now live with him in this house in Edgewater, Florida, USA with popcorn ceilings (SO offensive), knock down textured walls, an inefficient kitchen, not enough natural light, and an odd floor plan and zero character. There’s also a 300 gallon fish tank right where I think the French doors should be! I’ve got some great ideas (many from your blog and those your blog links with) and some challenges that I’m not quite sure how to tackle but with two pay-cuts, the budget isn’t all that. I’ve been selling things on Craigslist and eBay to fund small projects like my bathroom and I’m currently planning and collecting the materials and furniture to create a multi-purpose room for crafts/sewing/office space.
Ever since I found your blog, I’ve been so inspired. I looked at everything in the archives because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss ANYTHING. I would love your help. I’m handy with my compound miter saw and I love to paint. I learn fast and I’m willing to work my butt off. I’m trying to achieve the casual Pottery Barn/vintage/farmhouse/cottage vibe. Even if you do not choose our home for this project, I want you to know how much you’ve helped already. That popcorn and knock down texture was KILLING me! Now I know… Masonite and bead board wallpaper! If you need me to help with something else, I’d be happy to do that, too. I’m sure I’d learn something. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
Lori
Sorry I’m really late on this, but I would LOVE to help out if you’re ever in the Chicago area! I love DIY projects and crafting and am always looking to learn more about it, so it would be an honor to work with you!

Ok, I realize that I am WAY past the 48 hr mark but my husband & I just got married this past fall & have recently bought an old 1890’s farmhouse here in North Carolina (just outside of Raleigh). The house is amazing but needs a serious face lift. I love flea market, Americana inspired interiors & want to be true to the farmhouse roots but in a fresh, playful way. We would love help from you!!! I have a design degree but now work as a makeup artist & own a beauty boutique here in NC. I would be more than happy to help with a project if you are ever in the area. Let me know if you would like to see some pics of our new hobby farm!!!

Layla and Kevin,
I know this is a super late posting, but I thought I would comment anyway. We live in Pendleton, In and boy would it be great to have you! My husband and I bought our house two years ago, and I have only gotten two rooms painted. There have been paint samples on the wall in our living room for months. I just can’t decide what I would like and/or what is best. The main reasons are that the furniture we have (which isn’t much) probably won’t be there in a couple years. Also, we don’t know if we are going to live in this area long term. We are trying to weigh out what would be nice to do verses what should be done or what is worth doing. We bought a manufactured home, so it will not have as high of a resale value as others….even though it is in good condition. In general, both inside and out, our house needs some character. We don’t have a lot of time or money at the moment, since we just had our first son (who is 10 weeks old). All the projects that have been started have been left alone for now. There are so many things just waiting to be done….including the lower grade tiles that were put in before we moved in that are now cracking and the grout is coming out. My husband and I are not afraid to get our hands dirty, but it is a little intimidating sometimes to make design decisions/commitments. Whether you would ever make it up north or not, it would be great to see you all on tv! I love reading your blog and catching up when I get the chance. Thanks so much for all the work you do!

Option A – YES, YES, YES!! We move into a new home in a couple months. Built in 1983 and full of wall paper and mirrors all throughout the home. We’re pulling everying out, scraping popcorn ceilings, retexturing, new flooring, etc. HELP!! We bought this home because of back yard….beautiful…on 1.63 acres with a pond. Can send you pictures!!

I have a small A-frame house with an addition just sitting under roof nothing done inside and I have no idea what to do so it’s an empty canvas! Located in Bridgeport, WV . Can send pics anytime 🙂

I hope I’m not too late to apply! I’d love to help out and live nearby in Monroeville, AL. I paint (walls, murals, art), sew, build, etc. Call me…she said holding a fake phone up to her ear!!!!

We live in sunny California {SF Bay Area}…that should be enough to get you guys out here, am I right?!?! 😉
The hubby and I have a 1.5 year old son and another son coming in 3 months {eek!!!}. We are in some desperate need of some nursery help {turning that extra room where we throw stuff in and shut the door into something soothing for a baby!} and downstairs/family room help. We’re almost done re-doing our master and our son’s “big boy room†and have seriously run out of steam! Our townhouse is small enough to present some challenges for storage, functionality, etc. — we could really use some fresh pairs of eyes & extra hands!! 🙂

Is it too late to throw my house in the ring? I just recently discovered your site and *wow* this is the style I love but felt I couldn’t get away with so much beachyness in my rancher, in a subdivision, in Huntsville, AL! I’ve already started to redo in my head but of course your help would make my “head redos” a reality!!
Take care..Amber

P.S. Would love to help out wherever the next project takes you! I’m the handy man of the house, but I don’t have any real background in it, so I would love to learn from y’all 🙂

Help! I’ve been following your blog and check in for design inspiration but like a writer has a writers block, I have a decorators block. I am first time homeowner with my husband aka “I’ll get it done” my amazing 2 year old son Liam aka “I’ll tear it apart” and of course our dog baby max who is not used to all of our space so we do our best to keep him in eyesight his nickname is “I’ll mark it” . We are both hard workers being full time mommy and full time manager has definitely hindered my ability to execute all of my ideas. I love fashion and interior decorating and I am always so inspired by magazines and blogs such as yours. I love to mix fabrics and materials and am inspired by antique pieces mixed with classic. Here I enters my nickname “I have commitment issues” I buy and return all the time I change my rooms over and over so I live among a blank slate. I always half finish and I get so frustrated because when it comes to the fine details of decorating I get lost. I would love more han anything for you to come to my home and help me create a space fit for my amazing family and maybe in the process we can all work on our other issues! Good luck to all who are interested, I’ll be anxious to see who gets picked!
Best
Cari
