Meet Amy…
Last November she was hired to bring a 1930′s Spanish bungalow back to life, while honoring the antique feeling of the home. Here are some before shots of the kitchen…
And here are the incredible after’s…
To create warmth, Amy layered natural materials, ranging in color from a rusty terracotta to a rich mocha, and highlighted it all with pops of antique brass. Check out the leathered granite counter tops…
It’s ‘Copper Legnia’ and it came from Daltile. To achieve the finish, Amy said “they apply a chemical wash, whereas with a honed or polished finish they use sandpaper”.
The breakfast table was custom made out of this wood…
(Please tell me your mouth just watered too.)
Using chairs that are the same color as the table helps keep things visually calm, and making sure they’re a different texture creates visual interest at the same time. Love that! And what a neat idea for a centerpiece too, huh? Amy said she purchased the antique ceramic vessel, filled it with newspaper, then laid craft moss on top in clumps.
The drawers pulls are from Rocky Mountain Hardware. Amy says, “Hardware is like jewelry to me!”.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this kitchen come to life as much as I did! For more inspiring before and after photos of Amy’s work check out her blog at AmyMeierDesign.com/blog.
